Helping heroes connect with opportunities!

Greetings from the Combat Connect team! Our mission is to serve our military and first responders and their families and guide them on how to achieve financial independence. A part of achieving this is to provide an opportunity to join our team and help us fulfill our mission. As veterans, we swore an oath to protect our country’s men and women against all enemies foreign and domestic. This doesn’t change when we separate or retire. Our enemy now is the challenges of this broken world.

I am an honorably separated veteran of the US Air Force with 10 years of service and I served as a deputy sheriff in Orange County for 14 years. Also, I am currently enrolled at Liberty University pursuing a degree in Christian Counseling. In June 2020, I was involved in a motor vehicle accident which changed my life forever. I was diagnosed with PTSD and I medically retired in November.

My battle buddy of over 35 years, Jake Maiale, joined me as my first partner and co-founder. Jake also comes from a service-related family background as his dad served in the US Coast Guard. In fact, Jake’s dad and my dad, Colonel Charles “Doc” Dougherty worked together and that’s how we started our unchangeable brotherhood. Jake earned his master’s degree in business administration and our organization wouldn’t be the same without his knowledge and experience.

My friend of over 14 years, Jason Howard, joined our journey a couple of weeks later. Jason is combat disabled Veteran who served in the US Navy as a Corpsman. Jason is a highly decorated Veteran who definitely served our nation by sacrificing himself physically and mentally being deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan eight times. After he was medically and honorably discharged, he earned his degree in computer graphic arts and design. I owe him a great credit of developing our organization’s logo.

Our team identified that mentally and physically disabled veterans and first responders need a new mission to give their lives purpose. It can be hard transition to go from serving, protecting, saving, and helping our fellow men and women to doing nothing. Soon after we teamed up, we founded Combat Connect December 2020.

I thank you for your time and interest in Combat Connect. If you know someone that we can help, please reach out. This site is definitely a work in-progress. Please excuse the lack of information.
